Lesson Objective
Participants will be able to define what it means to coach others to use technology in education. Participants will create a plan to coach one co worker on a new way to incorportate technology into their lesson plans.
Activity#1 The "Why"
In your school, there are those set up to coach you. Mentors, PLC leaders, etc. Who do you look up to?
In your digital packet under slide 19 , write down one person that has coached you to be the teacher you are today. Be ready to share why you selected this person.
"The most valuable resource that all teacher's have is each other. Without collaboration our growth is limited by our own perspectives." -Robert John Meehan
It's important to recognize the impact you have on not just your students but also your coworkers.
When there is weekly collaboration, data shows that it is most effective when done weekly if not multiple times a week. (data )

Digital Age + Teaching
"Technology is a powerful tool that can support and transform education in many ways, from making it easier for teachers to create instructional materials to enabling new ways for people to learn and work together. With the worldwide reach of the Internet and the ubiquity of smart devices that can connect to it, a new age of anytime anywhere education is dawning. It will be up to instructional designers and educational technologies to make the most of the opportunities provided by technology to change education so that effective and efficient education is available to everyone everywhere." -Purdue University
Richardson, K. E. (2024, April 10).
Tech vs. teacher
What does this research mean for us as educators?
56%
"lack confidence in using learning technology prior to entering the classroom"
Klein, A. (2023, September 13)
We have to advocate for each other and help those around us grow confidence and undestanding of how to use technology effectively in the classroom.
Activity#2 The "Who"
When you think of your PLC you meet with, what does each of your individual digital literacy look like?
Who is the most digitally literate? Who is the least digitally literate? Where do you assess your digital literacy to be? What are your digital strengths?
Teacher collaboration is how we grow as educators and begin to mold our profession and teaching style.
Who in your PLC or school building can you help when it comes to technology and increasing their digital literacy? Write your "who" on your digital handout regarding slide 26
Activity#3 The "What"
We all have something we can teach others. That's why teacher collaboration works!
In this day in age, what is a strength you have when it comes to using technology ? If you feel less than confident about using technology, what is something another educator has taught you about integrating technology in the classroom?
You can teach your strengths to those that came to mind during our last activity. If we are constantly growing our knowledge for technology in education, we can coach those around us so we as a school are growing our digital literacy!
What is the purpose of ISTE Coaches Standards?
Review
Using these coaches standards from ISTE to guide us, we can increase our individual school's digital literacy by using our time in PLC's and through teacher collaboration to make sure that the knowledge of technology, AI, Canva, ChatGPT, etc is assessible for all!
