JAMESTOWNE
In 1607, around 100 men and boys landed on the shores of the New World and created the first permanent English settlement in North America. Captain John Smith was one of them. Besides being one of the first governors of Jamestowne, he was also the author of the General History of Virginia, in which he described the story of the settlers. Nowadays, people can visit the museum built at the same place, see the archaeological artefacts found there and learn something about the life in Jamestowne.
