Site-based Professional Development
Pro's and Con's
Site-based professional development occurs at individual schools and focus on school wide goals that affect the staff within (Fogarty & Pete, 2017). This model is effective in unifying staff at individual sites by having clear and common goals indiviualized to their specific area of education (ie elemntary, middle, high school.) These goals and plans are typically driven by and shared at the district or state level (Fogarty & Pete, 2017).

Community of Learners
A community of learners is a professional development model where educators team up and collaborate together (Fogery & Pete, 2017). According to Jill Flethcer "Teacher collaboration provides fellow educators opportunities to meet, share insights, create cohesive plans, and work together effectively" (2023). This type of PD is effective becuase it increases student success and can help decrease teacher burn out by bringing people together to share ideas (The Importance of Teacher Collaboration, 2023).
