Other terms: Super Tuesday: A Tuesday early in a U.S. presidential election year on which primary elections or caucuses are held in numerous states. One-third of all delegates to the presidential nominating conventions can be won on Super Tuesday. The 16 states that will vote on Super Tuesday are Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Virginia. Swing States: states that could “swing” to either Democratic or Republican candidates depending on the election. They are characterized by having small vote margins. These states include Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
