District Benchmark - Benchmarks are grade-specific minimum performance levels that students are expected to reach by certain points of the year in order to meet end-of-year performance goals. A Percentile Rank (PR) of 40 is a cut score that serves as a proficiency benchmark; students whose test scores place them in a Percentile Rank of 40 or higher will likely meet end-of-year performance goals as defined by the state or local standards without Tier 2 intervention. This score is mostly used by the administration to identify students who might benefit from tier 2 intervention. State Benchmark - The state benchmarks are based on each state's state test. Essentially, you use the results of a Star test to predict how a student will perform on a state test. You can choose which type of benchmark you'd like to view in the options menu before you run the test. See "How to Run This Report" for more information.

There are four benchmark levels:

Level 4: At/above benchmark

Level 3: On watch

Level 2: Intervention

Level 1: Urgent Intervention

Benchmark/Benchmark Category - a benchmark is the minimum proficiency level a student should reach. The benchmark for the Kern High School District is set at 40% meaning that if a student scores higher than 40% of students at their grade level across the nation, they have met the benchmark. This score is best used by school administration for the identification of students who could benefit from tier 2 intervention.
