"Pinocchio" is a story about a wooden puppet crafted by a kind and elderly woodcarver named Geppetto. Geppetto, who lives alone, creates Pinocchio and wishes for him to become a real boy. One night, the Blue Fairy visits and brings Pinocchio to life, though he remains a puppet. The Blue Fairy tells Pinocchio that if he proves himself to be brave, truthful, and unselfish, he will become a real boy.

Pinocchio is full of curiosity and energy but often finds himself in trouble due to his lack of experience and naive nature. Despite Geppetto's advice, Pinocchio is easily led astray by various characters. One of his early misadventures involves being tricked by a sly fox and a cunning cat who convince him to plant his money in the Field of Miracles, promising it will grow into a tree laden with gold coins. Instead, they rob him.

Another significant episode in Pinocchio's journey is his encounter with Stromboli, a greedy puppet master who captures Pinocchio and forces him to perform in his puppet show. Pinocchio eventually escapes with the help of the Blue Fairy, who warns him about the consequences of lying by making his nose grow longer each time he tells a lie.

Pinocchio's adventures continue as he meets Lampwick, a boy who persuades him to go to Pleasure Island, a place where children indulge in all kinds of mischief without rules. However, this turns out to be a trap, as the children are transformed into donkeys and sold into labor. Pinocchio narrowly escapes this fate but is left with donkey ears and a tail.

Determined to make amends, Pinocchio sets out to find Geppetto, who, in the meantime, has gone looking for Pinocchio and ends up swallowed by a giant whale named Monstro. Pinocchio bravely dives into the ocean and finds Geppetto inside the whale. They manage to escape by setting a fire inside the whale, causing it to sneeze them out.

After their escape, Pinocchio shows selflessness and bravery by caring for Geppetto, who is weak and ill from his ordeal. The Blue Fairy, recognizing Pinocchio's growth and genuine change of heart, grants him his ultimate wish. Pinocchio is transformed into a real boy, and he and Geppetto live happily ever after.
