INSTRUCTIONAL COACH
- Supports teachers in aligning AVID with other instructional initiatives or teaching and learning systems used in the school.
- Assists teachers in disaggregating student data and guides decisions on the impact to instruction.
- Visits classrooms, supporting and promoting the use of WICOR schoolwide.
- Models and provides professional learning on AVID methodologies for other staff members at the school.
Instructional Leader
- Commits to supporting the schoolwide efforts of the AVID Site Team.
- Holds high academic expectations for all students.
- Collaborates with the AVID Site Team to establish a college-going and career-ready culture.
- Implements, models, and encourages AVID methodologies schoolwide.
- Advocates for equal access to rigorous curriculum.
- Has received formal training by AVID Center or has attended department/campus/district professional learning workshop featuring AVID strategies.
- Serves as an advocate for AVID by encouraging other content teachers to adopt the AVID philosophy through modeling and departmental discussion.
PRINCIPAL
- Provides philosophical and financial support for AVID teachers and students.
- Participates in the AVID Site Team.
- Supports the equity and access of all students to AP, CTE, and dual credit courses.
- Supports the AVID Site Coordinator in selection, assignment, and evaluation of AVID.
- Coordinates AVID with other curriculum programs to provide alignment.
Campus Teacher
- Utilizes WICOR strategies in their content-area class.
- Commits to student success and improved student learning.
- Commits to the AVID philosophy that all students should have equal access to, and support for success in, rigorous college prep courses.
- Holds high academic expectations for students and models a growth mindset.
- Trains in, understands, and implements AVID methodologies, materials, and strategies in classroom instruction.
- WICORizes lesson plans.
- Collaborates with the AVID Site Team.
- Supports AVID through attendance at AVID functions and activities.
- Refers potential students to the AVID Site Coordinator.
- Assists with AVID’s data collection and certification processes.
ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS
- Schedules AVID Elective class as a regular school elective class to facilitate student access.
- Maintains AVID Elective class size so that it is comparable to any academic class size at the school.
- Advocates for the usage of AVID as a lens to support staff and student.
- Observe implementing classrooms on a consistent basis and provide timely feedback, coaching, and mentoring regarding implementation of WICOR strategies.
AVID Elective Teacher
- Trains in, understands, and enthusiastically implements AVID methodologies, materials, and strategies in classroom instruction.
- Commits to student success and improved student learning.
- Participates in schoolwide commitment to the AVID philosophy that all students should have equal access to, and support for success in, rigorous courses.
- Holds high academic expectations for students and models a growth mindset.
- WICORizes lesson plans.
- Collaborates with the AVID Site Team.
- Supports AVID through attendance at AVID functions and activities.

COUNSELOR
- Works closely with the AVID Site Coordinator to develop a plan for articulation and recruitment.
- Promotes AVID as an elective and counsels students and parents on overcoming obstacles and breaking down barriers.
- Refers students to the AVID Site Coordinator to initiate the selection process.
- Facilitates registration of AVID students into rigorous courses with appropriate teachers.
- Confers with AVID parents and students to plan a long-term college prep course of study, including information about the application process for college and financial aid procedures.
- Communicates on a regular basis with the Site Coordinator, teachers, and parents/family members regarding the progress of AVID students.
- Participates in AVID activities such as field trips, parent/family meetings, and Site Team meetings.
AVID Coordinators
- Is a strong student advocate, who is committed to the philosophy of AVID, including the support for equity and access for all students to advanced classes.
- Leads the building of an active, participatory AVID Site Team.
- Acts as the liaison between the Site Team, principal, and District Director, and between the AVID counselor, AVID Elective teacher, and principal.
- Oversees and is responsible for certification and data collection, including engaging the members of the Site Team in the collection of evidence and providing data.
- Collaborates with different sites and grade levels to articulate AVID curriculum and activities.
- Advocates and provides professional learning regarding AVID methodologies for other staff members of the school and district.
AVID Tutor
- Trains in AVID methodologies through tutor training given at district director.
- Provides academic support to students in order to ensure success in rigorous coursework.
- Leads tutorial groups.
- Provides direct instruction under the Elective teacher's supervision.
- Acts as a role model for AVID students.
- Informs AVID Elective teacher of students’ progress.
- Assists in the organization and participation of ffunctions and activities.
- Advocates for AVID among college peers in order to build a pool of tutors.
EdTech Coach
- Establishes effective relationships with educators and supports them by planning and modeling the effective use of technology to improve student learning
- Assists teachers in using technology effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous, relevant and engaging learning experiences for all students
- Assists in the development and implementation of professional development opportunities for educators and instructional staff at the school and district-level, providing personalized learning experiences that support district, school, and individual goals
- Coach teachers in and model design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences using a variety of research-based instructional strategies, resources, and assessment tools to address the ISTE standards
- Engages in continual learning and actively participates in Personalized Learning Networks to deepen content and pedagogical knowledge in technology integration and current and emerging technologies necessary to implement the ISTE Standards-S (students) and ISTE Standards-T (teachers); uses knowledge to effectively impact the instructional practices of the teachers, digital age learning environment models, and teachers’ technology skills that are coached and modeled in a variety of classrooms
- Model and promote digital citizenship by facilitating safe, healthy, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technologies
- Support the development of online and blended learning opportunities, including creation and maintaining videos, support documents, webpages, and other digital resources
