The educator and author Grant Wiggins sums up his vision of traditional assessment with an expression that, however caricatured it may be, is not far from the truth: "Teach, test and hope for the best!".
Given the nature of the evaluation in a real situation, continuous feedback helps the student to improve their performance in relation to the final demonstration of their competencies. This process is based on carrying out activities more frequently than traditional exams or evaluations, which do not allow ex ploring all the realism and complexity of the learning achieved by the students, thus excluding any possibility of feedback from the teacher.
Educational environment without pressure: Feedback is provided continuously in an open and transparent context. This educational environment implies a lower degree of pressure towards the student, which is reflected in a visible improvement in their performance.
Trial and error system: Feedback is based on the process of improvement through trial and error, which is how we learn so many things in life.
Improves final performance: Throughout the learning process, students will receive continuous feedback from the teacher (or peers) to improve their performance.
Regular student contact: As we already know, assessment in real life tends to favor continuous contact between teachers and students, as the assessment is an integral part of the teaching.
Advantages of feedback
Authentic assessment is a process of collecting information from tools based on real situations, in which complex tasks requiring specific performance standards and criteria are proposed to provide feedback to students, which will help them reach their learning goals or to develop their skills.
Huba and Freed (2000)
Assessments in real situations imposes an important change in the assessment, as it emphasizes the realism and complexity of the situation and increases the level of intellectual and practical operations required. In this context, feedback and repetition are extremely important. The objective is to follow up all learning processes and eventually to give students a final grade along with feedback and advice.
In this section, we will discuss the "feedback loop" characteristic of continuous assessment.

FEEDBACK
Improves final performance: Throughout the learning process, students will receive continuous feedback from the teacher (or peers) to improve their performance.
Regular student contact: As we already know, assessment in real life tends to favor continuous contact between teachers and students, as the assessment is an integral part of the teaching.
Trial and error system: Feedback is based on the process of improvement through trial and error, which is how we learn so many things in life.
Educational environment without pressure: Feedback is provided continuously in an open and transparent context. This educational environment implies a lower degree of pressure towards the student, which is reflected in a visible improvement in their performance.
Advantages of Feedback
Curiously, in all real-life situation assessment methods, any possibility of plagiarism or cheating is eliminated, as the teacher's supervision and continuous feedback guarantees integrity on the part of the student.
It is best not to use the same scale for feedback and certification. If, for their first task, the work is considered excellent (A) or very good (B), the student can be tempted to reduce their efforts. However, satisfactory work will make them understand that they are on the right path, although they haven't reached an excellent (A) or exceptional (A+) level.
Important
The purpose of providing students with feedback throughout their work is so that they are aware of their successes and mistakes and are able to correct them in time.
