Namur, 11-12 January 2024
The European Union Employment and Social Affairs Council (EPSCO) brings together the competent ministers of the 27 Member States. This happens in an informal setting, but also in a formal council formation. During this informal EPSCO , for which the FPS Social Security acted in support of the FPS Employment, the Belgian Presidency extended the list of invitees with the EFTA countries, 2 candidate countries (Ukraine and Moldova), European social partners, OECD Director, ILO Director-General and the civil society.

Conference "Fair Mobility in the EU and the role of the European Labour Authority (ELA)"
Brussels, 25 January 2024
The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU organised a conference on the European Labour Authority (ELA). This conference had two objectives: to promote the activities and achievements of ELA and to evaluate the effectiveness of its missions. This conference was organised jointly with the FPS Employment.

Antwerp, 15-16 February 2024
The Social Protection Committee (SPC) plays an advisory role to the ministers meeting within the Employment and Social Affairs Council (EPSCO). In addition to monthly meetings, each Presidency organises an informal meeting of the SPC.

The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union organised a high-level conference on the European Pillar of Social Rights. At this conference, the EU, the social partners and civil society renewed their commitment to a stronger Social Europe by signing an inter-institutional declaration on the European Pillar of Social Rights. On 25 June, the FPS Social Security chaired the working party of the Administrative Commission for the Coordination of Social Security Systems (hereafter the AC) on behalf of Belgium. Working parties consist of thematic meetings put forward by the Member State chairing the AC, with the main aim of examining in greater depth certain issues that the AC may face in carrying out its duties.
