La importancia de la mercadotecnia radica en que es un factor determinante para mejorar la vida de las personas a través de productos y servicios que resultan útiles en su día a día.
La finalidad de la mercadotecnia es diseñar estrategias para las empresas a partir de los objetivos que persiguen, entre ellos, aumentar las ventas, obtener más ganancias y alcanzar una mayor participación de mercado.
Los antecedentes de esta disciplina se remontan a 1902 y hasta 1910, cuando la mercadotecnia tomó bases de la economía y comenzó a definir la estructura de su funcionamiento. De 1910 a 1920 se desarrollaron los conceptos básicos de esta práctica.
