Kobayashi illustrated another tanuki tied by its feet in The Cub's Triumph. He maintains his characteristic attention to detail (i.e. the fine lines for the texture of the fur), and has a similar positioning of the body. There are still slight differences, most noticeably the head's positioning, and more subtle details like the smaller and angular feet, the bushier tail, and the distinct limbs.

Once again we have another parallel from Kobayashi, again in The Cub's Triumph. Here, the tanuki's face is visible and looks more human than not. The tanuki's animalistic traits instead persist in his body, with his paws and tail intact. The tanuki in Kachi-Kachi Mountain, on the other hand, has fully human hands, and it's face is a mystery beyond tufts of fur and hair in a confusing array of fine lines.
