Have you ever been to a place that makes you say "wow" and catch your breath? The state of Arizona will make you do that many times over. The state is known for its breathtaking geography, dry climate, and unique plants. Arizona has 22 National Parks and Monuments. One of these National Parks is the Grand Canyon, which is a huge chasm in the Earth. The Grand Canyon is gigantic-- it is over 277 miles long (446 km). In 2013, Nik Wallenda tightrope walked across the giant chasm, amazing people everywhere!

Other people visit the Grand Canyon to hike, camp, and look at the red rocks. The Sonoran Desert is also located in Arizona, and is home to the giant Saguaro Cactus. These are the largest cacti in the United States and can be up to 40 feet tall! They survive in the dry climate by storing water in their stem and growing spikes to keep animals from eating them. These are just some of the unusual things you might see if you visit the state of Arizona.
