Who was Langston Hughes
Resources
- When Langston was at High School he was already writing poetry, short stories and articles for the school newspaper. He was voted as 'class poet' so his talent was recognised early on. He was often treated badly because of the colour of his skin.
James Nathaniel Hughes was Langston's Father but he did not have a very close relationship with his son. He wanted Langston to be an engineer but he wanted to write. Langston was then mostly brought up by his grandmother.
