The sarang burung tempua, located next to the rector's home, is a distinctive architectural and natural element on campus. It's a striking creation that resembles the elaborately woven nests of weaver birds. The design represents the harmony of nature and human invention. It is enclosed in a walled and netted enclosure amidst a lush, forested landscape. The protective netting is most likely designed to protect the nest from potential predators, prevent interruptions from human activities, and may aid in monitoring and analysing the bird's behaviour in a controlled yet natural setting. It exemplifies the pleasant coexistence of academic endeavours with nature, allowing the university community to observe, study, and appreciate the minute aspects of bird life. This project not only benefits the local bird population, but also provides important educational opportunities for students and researchers to interact with and learn from their immediate natural environment.

This area already features some garden elements, such as shaded and open walkways, a square, decorative plants, and water features. Integrating the garden with the existing river will enhance the ambiance of the area, creating a pleasant environment for visitors. In addition to landscaping elements, other features can be introduced to heighten the attractiveness of the garden. These could include alfresco dining areas, spaces for outdoor training activities, water sports, and dedicated learning spaces. Such additions would significantly enhance the garden’s appeal and utility for a wide range of activities.

The Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS) was established in 1990. Its formation represents a drive to integrate Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences disciplines as part of comprehensive educational reform for the betterment of mankind. When IIUM was established in 1983, it was clear that the central objective of the University was to integrate knowledge with Islamic values, norms and worldview. This resulted in the formation of Centre for Fundamental Knowledge (CFK). It was a non-degree awarding Centre responsible for offering courses relating to the Islamic worldview, Islamic creed, ethics and spirituality. The Centre since its inception up until it has been transformed into the Department of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (IRKH) offered 18 courses. 14 of which taught in Arabic. The founding Shaikh al-Kulliyyah of CFK (1983-1990) was the then Rector, Allahyarham Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Kamal Hassan. While the founding Dean of CFK was Assoc. Prof. Mohd. The IIUM Community Garden is envisaged as garden with centralised plots allocated to groups and individuals, including from surrounding community, for gardening. Besides the various environmental and social benefits, centralised community garden also allows the University to better monitor garden activities within the campus and reduces the chances of gardens being left unattended and becoming unsightly as what is happening currently at many of the gardens which are set up at isolated locations within the campus. Another significant advantage of a centralised community garden is the opportunity it provides for exchanging knowledge and experiences among the gardeners, as everyone will be working in the same area. This arrangement also facilitates group training sessions and hands-on gardening demonstrations, contributing to increased motivation among participants to maintain and succeed in their garden plots.
