A third camera is kept on hand in case of malfunction or low battery.

CRF uses the timelapse setting as photos carry higher resolution than video. The interval depends on distance from the reef and swim speed; CRF generally uses one photo per second.

To achieve broader overlap and fewer swim patterns, CRF uses two cameras of the same model per photomosaic. Cameras are approximately 0.6m (2ft) apart, allowing for overlap and peripheral imagery.

White balance can vary between GoPro models. We use native white balance and magenta filter but may change filter based on water conditions and reef variability.

For stabilizing the cameras, can be swum outstretched in front of diver/snorkeler or attached to DPV.

One or multiple scale bars can be placed in the photomosaic as measuring tool after orthorectification.
