Breathing control

Breathwork

Start

Breath control is one of the most effective ways to intervene in our bodily, physiological and emotional state. Breathing connects the mind and the body.Breathing exercises can help us to relax, control anxiety, insomnia, etc. They are even good for improving our attention and reducing negative thought. The practice of deep breathing stimulates the Parasympathetic Nervous System, which is responsible for the involuntary activity of the body when we are at rest. The practice of shallow breathing stimulates the sympathetic system, which is responsible for activating various organs to prepare us for action. It is the latter that is activated during periods of stress, and it is its activity that we want to counteract by learning different breathing techniques. Of all the automatic responses, breathing is practically the only one that we can voluntarily control (along with blinking). It is a gateway to our body's autonomic system, which we can use to send messages to our brain.
