Legend says that a faraway kingdom forged a sword that together with the power of the Elemental Gems (fire, water, air, and earth) could defeat any evil. Gather the gems to assemble the ultimate weapon and defeat the dragon hiding in the dungeon.

Start game

Thank goodness you’ve come! We need your help! You need to find the 4 Elemental Gems so that the sword has enough power and then defeat the fearsome dragon that is terrorizing our people…

Help us, only a person like you can do it!

No thank you, I’ll pass

Of course!

Ouch! I thought you were cool ... What will become of us!

Hehehe, I was kidding. Ahem, of course I’ll help you

I knew you would not fail me! Thanks a lot! Here is the holy sword. Now gather the Elemental Gems to complete it and defeat the dragon.

LEVEL 1 - EARTH GEM

EARTH GEM

Watch out, a wandering skeleton is in your way! Get the earth gem by passing a quiz about lorem ipsum…

Start level

Where do you think you’re going, mortal?! You won’t be worthy of the Earth Gem until you get all my questions correct. Do you dare to try?

Which of the following is the molecular ion peak in a mass spectrum?

The peak with the highest intensity

The peak with the highest m/z value

In mass spectrometry, neutral radicals that form as a result of the fragmentation do not reach the detector.

False

True

If you remove one electron from methane, what will be generated?

CH3+

CH4+

Which one of the following statements about the mass spectrum of CH3Br is correct?

there is just one peak for the molecular ion with an m/z value of 95

The last two peaks exhibit equal intensity and are observed at m/z values of 94 and 96.

Which fragment ion would correspond to a peak with an m/z value of 29

C-OH+

CH3CH2+

Congratulations!! Here is your reward, you have earned it

Hahahaha, what do you say? ...

Oh, I've lost my mind, give me another chance!

LEVEL 2 - AIR GEM

AIR GEM

Choose the correct image to get out of the room alive and get the next gem

Start level

Which Infrared spectrum corresponds to an alcohol?

Which image corresponds to the IR spectrum of a carboxylic acid?

Which infrared spectra corresponds to a ketone?

Whihc of these compounds would produce an H-NMR spectrum with 3 peaks

Which of these compounds woukd produce an H-NMR spectrum with 4 peaks

You got the Air Gem!

LEVEL 3 - WATER GEM

WATER GEM

Drag the light to find the correct answer

Start level

A compound shows a molecular ion peak at m/z = 58 in its mass spectrum, only a singlet at δ 2.1 ppm in its H-NMR spectrum, and a strong absorption at 1715 cm⁻¹ in its IR spectrum. What is the most likely structure of this compound?

propanone

propanal

Ethanol

This element has the highest first ionisation energy ( 3 options)

Phosphorus (P)

Sodium (Na)

Magnesium (Mg)

What is the general trend in first ionization energy as you move across a period from left to right?

remains the same

increases

Decreases

Which of the following substances has a standard enthalpy of formation (ΔHf°) of zero?

H2O(l)

CO2 (g)

O2 (g)

And now look for the gem! Hurry up!

You got the Water gem!

LEVEL 4 - FIRE GEM

FIRE GEM

Search among the tiles for the mathematical operation to find the correct answer

Start level

What is the standard enthalpy change of combustion (ΔHc°)? The enthalpy change when ...

one mole of the product is formed

a substance is burned in one mole of oxygen

one mole of a substance is burned in excess oxygen

Which of the following equations represents the standard enthalpy change of formation of water?

2H₂(g) + ½O₂(g) → H₂O(g)

2H₂(g) + O₂(g) → 2H₂O(l)

H₂(g) + ½O₂(g) → H₂O(l)

->

2 Cl(g)

Cl2 (g)

Search among the tiles for the equation. What does it represent?

enthalpy of formation of chlorine

enthalpy of electron affinity of chlorine

enthalpy of atomisation of chlorine

ΔHf (Al2O3) = −1669

ΔHf (CuO) = −155

Search among the tiles for the information you need to Calculate the enthalpy change of the following reaction: 3CuO(s) + 2Al(s) → 3Cu(s) + Al2O3(s)

-1204 kJmol-1

-1514 kJmol-1

+1204 KJmol-1

ΔHc (C3H6) = -2058

ΔHc (H2) = -286

ΔHc (C3H8) = -2219

Search among the tiles for the information to Calculate the ΔHr for the hydrogenation of propene to form propane CH3−CH=CH2(g) + H2(g) → CH3−CH2−CH3(g)

+161 kJmol-1

-125 kJmol-1

+125 kJmol-1

You got the Fire Gem!
