Far away but close to heart
eTwinning project exhibition2023-2024
Brief description
An eTwinning project designed to provide our students with a chance to share cultural features with peers from other countries by visiting their native places and attending their festivals. IThe project is also an opportunity to study similarities and differences between them and gain universal awareness.
Project partners:
Aims
Respect fpr other cultures
The purpose of this project for our younger students is to meet other students in a foreign country face to face to distinguish the similarities and differences between the countries in a wider perspective. Students will take part in local children festivals, and workshops in a co-educative context. They will also go sightseeing. The participating students will stay at host families. During this visit the students will learn about each other's sports culture (and subcultures), their way of living and (the surroundings of) the cities and the different traditions and customs of the countries.
Therefore, they learn about foreign cultures while they are improving their English competences. Moreover, this Project makes teenagers be aware of the benefits that new technologies can offer for language students by learning English in a very motivating and dynamic way, instead of staying in a traditional classroom environment
New experiences
Learning and sharing
The results gained:
- Cultural exchange among some European countries. Support of the awareness of other cultures, - Encouragement and increasing the efficiency of inter-cultural collaboration among the students, teachers and parents. - Experiencing similarities and differences about partner countries’ festivals, life styles, traditional games, superstitions, education systems, food etc. - Getting acquainted with natural beauties and famous sights of the partner’s country. - Promoting empathy and understanding; teaching tolerance through recognizing the cultural and traditional diversity of nations. - Raining awareness that "being different" is a two-way relationship, we too are "different" to someone else. - Making our students notice, understand and respect these differences.
