Career & Technical Education
A career and technical education (or CTE) FEG allows students to learn more about a specific career field and usually has a hands-on component that makes it different from the traditional bookwork required of other academic courses. Often upper-level CTE courses allow students to earn industry certifications, meet local employers, and/or visit related businesses within the community.
Fine Arts
A fine arts FEG will require students to complete three pathway courses in the field of music, theatre, or art. Students choosing a fine arts FEG will further refine their pathway from the broad category into something more specific, depending on what is offered in their school. For example, a student interested in music might choose to do three levels of courses in band, choir, piano, or guitar, while a student interested in art might take three levels of courses in drawing or photography.
Academic
An academic FEG will require students to take three additional academic courses. An academic course is any math, science, social studies, or English course that a student takes in addition to the core courses already required for graduation.
