Exploring proven coping techniques for pressure release
We normally experience pleasant and innate feelings that allow us to enjoy life and support our growth. When something stressful happens, there is a set of confusing information (what we call "distress") and distressing feelings attached to it.On the one hand, the latter can be ignored or repressed (first by society and then by each person - to themselves), leaving the confusing information stuck in our brains and affecting our opinions, choices and feelings, intermittently or chronically (depending on how many times they are re-stimulated). On the other hand, attached distressing feelings can be discharged through our innate recovery mechanisms: Emotions (crying, laughing, yawning and shaking), as long as nothing and no one interrupts them. When we feel pain and start to be under the influence of uncomfortable feelings (a warning mechanism that something needs to be fixed), our body puts into action a natural recovery process: emotions. Emotions allow us to clear and process confusing information, making it easier for us to eventually store only the useful parts of the information for the future and recover from attached feelings.
