Our strategy for supporting local communities
Definitions

In social geography, a local community refers to different groups of people living in close proximity to one another, in the same geographical area. These communities can be connected through social, cultural, environmental, or sporting organizations, for example. An Endowment Fund is an organization designed to collect donations from people outside the structure, to help another organization carry out a work or mission of general interest, without financial gain.

Acting locally is part of our corporate culture. From Spain to Brazil, Canada to South Africa, each of our subsidiaries is committed to contributing to the energy and drive of its local region. The Roullier Endowment Fund is part of this dynamic, encouraging patronage of scientific projects in France and abroad.

Two principles guide our actions:

Our goal for 2025

Supporting more social, cultural, sporting and environmental charities.

Support

of Group subsidiaries supporting a local non-profit initiative.

Roullier Endowment Fund's two modes of action
Started in 2016 on Daniel Roullier’s initiative, the Roullier Endowment Fund is dedicated to serve the public interest in studying, publicizing, and promoting sustainable agriculture in France and all around the world.

Sponsorship of scientific projects

Tomorrow's agriculture must ensure food security for the world's population while preserving natural resources for future generations. The Roullier Endowment Fund contributes to this transition by providing financial support for projects designed to enhance the value of the farming profession and disseminate best practices in sustainable agriculture.

Training farmers in plant inoculation

Led by the IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement), in partnership with Dakar and Thies Universities, this project was set up to develop and support the inoculation technique in Senegal. This simple technique involves adding bacteria or fungi to enhance the development and health of associated plants.

It helps stabilize agricultural yields.

It can generate up to twice the production of inoculated crops.

Supporting the work of the biodiversity research chair

Impacted by human activity and climate change for over half a century, biodiversity plays a key role in many functions. With a view to preserving these natural systems through local solutions, the work of the Biodiversity and Climate Change Research Chair at the Fondation Rennes 1 focuses on three areas.

Analyze the threats posed by climate change.

Experiment with resilience solutions.

Recommend informed and efficient management policies.

Our commitment is a direct response to the Sustainable Development Goals:
Conclusion

We are increasing our civic and solidarity initiatives to help local communities wherever the Roullier Group is present. These initiatives play a part in the development of our Group's host regions, either through financial support or through the mobilization of our teams.

How are we at TIMAC AGRO contributing in concrete terms to this fifth commitment by the Groupe Roullier?
Proximity between local communities and TIMAC AGRO
More than 100 community partnerships
TIMAC AGRO sets itself apart with the great importance it attaches to local partners, always giving priority to decentralized business. Subsidiaries are the best embodiment of this: they are key players in their local areas, and are committed to them. TIMAC AGRO subsidiaries have set up more than 100 partnerships with charities for a wide variety of projects, with a particularly large number financing projects in education, health and solidarity.

The 11th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) aims to rehabilitate and plan cities, or any other human settlement, in such a way as to:

  • Provide employment opportunities for all
  • Provide access to basic services, energy, housing, transport, green public spaces and moreImprove the use of resources
  • Reduce their environmental impact

The 17th and final Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) promotes effective partnerships between governments, the private sector and civil society. These partnerships are necessary to achieve the SDGs at global, regional, national and local levels. They must be:

  • Inclusive
  • Built on shared principles and values
  • Built with people and the planet at heart

Feeding childrenin need

For Mandela Day, the TIMAC AGRO South Africa team visited a children's home, The Doves Nest Place of Safety.

The team provided light meals and provided warm clothes to all children who live there so they can go through the winter in better conditions.

Seeing their smiles and sincere gratitude strengthens our belief that together we help create a better future for these children and that it is vital we give them our support.

The 10th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) calls on countries to adapt their policies and legislation in order to:

  • Increase income for the poorest 40% of the population.
  • Reduce pay inequalities based on gender, age, disability, social or ethnic origin, or religious affiliation.
In particular, by encouraging the representation of developing countries in global decision-making.

Running for solidarity

TIMAC AGRO organized the 22nd edition of the famous 14 km race: La Passagère from Dinard to Saint-Malo. This running event is a warm-hearted gathering which, from the outset, combines running and community spirit.

The event attracts over 900 participants, running alone or in teams.

Part of the profits are donated to the AFM Téléthon.

Garbage collection

On Earth Day, April 22, 2023, the whole TIMAC AGRO Polska team gathered in the nearby forest of Dąbrówka to collect as much garbage as possible and help the local community. Their motto is:

Think globally, act locally!

Long-term partnerships with local organizations

TIMAC AGRO Brasil sponsors the "WinBelendon" and "FirstSaque" projects, which have helped integrate over 300 socially disadvantaged children and teenagers through sport. In addition, teams take part in the "Day in the Field" program, which includes:

Planting vegetables and fruit trees.

Activities based around the food industry to bring children closer to the farming world.

Agriculture in the Classroom

Timac Agro Canada has teamed up with Agriculture in the Classroom to offer children several events:

Discover farm life at McArthur Farms.

Fertilizer blending experiment at Canada's Farm Show.

Minerallium

An exhibition dedicated to minerals, Minerallium takes visitors deep into the Earth's crust to discover the essential role played by minerals in plant, animal and human nutrition. This educational space is also a meeting place and a forum for debate between those involved in sustainable agriculture.
