live vs. guided instruction

live Days in edio

Guided instruction

This instructional format models best practices by teachers who guide learners through lessons via Zoom. Learners can choose to attend these sessions or complete lessons independently on edio. Follow-up may be needed after guided sessions. Attendance in guided sessions is optional.

A LIVE Day refers to a day on the calendar where there is customized instruction for one, some, or all learners in a particular class. Like Guided, LIVE also offers the opportunity for synchronous instruction when needed. On these days, learners should follow the lesson that their teacher has assigned to them.

Learning Coach and Student Responsibilities

Students in grades K-5 require significant support from learning coaches, teachers, and families. A learning coach, often a parent, helps students in a cyber elementary school develop essential academic skills, spending at least 25 hours a week on virtual learning. They assist with coursework, activities, lesson plans, and academic progress. Families can get extra help at Family Service Centers across Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Scranton. These centers offer enrollment assistance, meetings with school staff, and support for virtual learning. Our cyber charter school values family involvement by pairing new families with veteran parent mentors. These mentors provide non-academic support and help facilitate communication between parents, students, learning coaches, and teachers to enhance student success.
