LET'S SING ALONG!
In groups of 2, present a self-made wo/man in 2 minutes.Your presentation will have an introduction in which you will define the concept and a conclusion in which you will highlight the main points of your presentation in order to convince your classmates that your person is the best possible example of the concept. The body of your presentation will be divided into two parts: a biography and your arguments as to why this person should be considered a self-made wo/man.This person can be historical or modern but it cannot be fictional. The concept being fundamentally American, the person must have achieved success in the US.You will also design a visual support of 3 pages and 30 words per page maximum. When the presentations are done, you will vote for the most convincing presentation. The group's grade will get one extra point.
Gatsby, a wealthy young man living near New York in the 1920s, is famous for the extravagant parties he throws. Son of a poor farmer, he is a typical self-made man, but no-one knows where he came from or how he made his fortune. We soon learn the dark truth behind the fairy tale: that he made his fortune through criminal activities.
