Additional Prevention & Diversion

In addition to Tier 1 prevention through schoolwide student College, Career, & Community (Naviance, Second Step, EverFi, SEL, etc.), these are additional prevention resources to be aware of.

LEAD

Suicide Prevention

Suicide Prevention Suicide prevention is something that is prioritized in Mesa. All staff who have contact with 5th-12th grade students must go through required Suicide Prevention training (Act on Facts). Also, every Junior High and High School Student receives education on Suicide Prevention resources, such as Teen Lifeline. Teen Lifeline phone numbers are also printed on all 7th-12th grade student ID cards for ease of access. Please take some time to explore Mesa's information regarding Suicide Prevention. so you can become of the resources that are out there.
Drug and Alcohol Diversion Program: LEAD When students are in violation of our Vaping or Drug and Alcohol policy in Mesa, they can participate in LEAD (Leadership, Education, Awareness, Decision -Making). Taking LEAD can reduce the length of a student's out of school suspension period upon successful completion. LEAD consists of an online drug and alcohol education course with a required student/parent live LEAD session taught by Mesa staff. Take some time to familiarize yourself with LEAD by visiting the Opportunity & Achievement website.
