Introduction

So what’s working at heights? Work that's considered to be at ‘height’ a person could fall a distance likely to cause personal injury where precautions weren't taken.

Common risks and hazards

Slips, trips and falls

Falls are the most obvious and often most serious of risks. They can occur from slipping, tripping, losing balance or equipment failure.

Equipment

Equipment such as scaffolding towers, manual access platform, ladders and harnesses could fail if not correctly installed and maintained or used. Falling tools, and unsecured items may also cause injury.

Environment

Unstable ground, unmaintained work enviroments with a lack of good house keeping, & poor visibility can lead to an accident and collisions. Adverse weather, and liquid spills can cause an increase in unnecessary & avoidable slips.
