How-To
If your monitoring reveals that something is not being implemented, does that bother you enough to want to do something about it? Because it’s in that moment where management ends and leadership begins. Management requires the courage to monitor while leadership requires you to respond to what you learn during the monitoring process.

The education of students with disabilities is one of the most heavily regulated areas in the field of education. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), a federal law, guarantees children with disabilities aged 3 to 21 a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that emphasizes special education and related services. Implementation of IDEA is supported by federal regulations and guidance from the USDOE’s Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS), Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), and Office of Civil Rights, state laws and regulations and local laws, rules and policies. Together this body of laws, regulations and policies establishes enforceable standards and conditions for the provision of special education and related services to children with disabilities.
