Malad

The underground village of Malad. Little is known about this location, as its entrance has been sealed for some time since the start of The Sultan’s rule. While the Resistance’s expedition team makes numerous trips around the entrance to Malad for valuable resources, we have never made attempts to enter. If the people of Malad ever choose to resurface, we will request that they join our cause.

Sidra

The merchant city of Sidra. This city’s vast wealth attracted The Sultan and his army shortly after he invaded the land. Sidra sits at the center of The Shimmering Sands, accompanied by the Great River. This makes it the perfect location for the region’s central trading hub. The location is just as important to the Resistance as it is to The Sultan. Our second largest base lies within the city, with our largest recruitment operation at its center. Our network of patriotic craftsmen and merchants allows us to spread our influence throughout the land, all while remaining in the shadows of The Sultan’s watchful eye. If you are interested in working your way up the ranks, you must first travel to this location and undergo special training to be promoted.

Albad

The Sultan’s capital city, Albad. Albad was the first city to be taken over by The Sultan and his army and was previously the capital city of The Shimmering Sands. Its looming marble towers shine across the skyline of the region, once a beacon of life, now a monument to tyranny. The Sultan’s forces have occupied Albad for years. Most of the citizens who live in Albad fully support The Sultan and his rule, with a sizeable number of them being native to The Shimmering Sands. To counteract this support, the Resistance has placed its most prevalent base of operations within Albad. We have chosen to hide in plain sight to monitor the Sultan’s movements closely, and to persuade any open-minded supporters of The Sultan to join our cause. To know the location of our base of operations in Albad, you must move up the ranks of the Resistance, and be assigned to one of our special operations teams.

The Scrap

The settlement near the center of The Shimmering Sands known simply as “The Scrap.” The Scrap is currently independent of The Sultan’s rule and the Resistance’s cause. However, we do have a couple of operatives within the settlement, recruiting whoever wishes to join us. The Scrap has a reputation for being a cutthroat place to live. Many gangs infest the region, piddling drugs and illegal weapons from other nations into The Shimmering Sands. The Sultan’s army mostly avoids the region, but a few skirmishes have occurred in the last few months. We will continue to monitor this settlement in the hopes that more will leave their life of crime in favor of our cause.

Ludria

The Sultan’s personal resort town, Ludria. Whenever The Sultan and his nobles aren’t busy terrorizing the people of The Shimmering Sands, they retreat to this location to wind down. Ludria is surrounded by oases and contains numerous palace-like structures filled with hotel rooms, kitchens, and entertainment rooms, basically anything to pat the back of a tyrannical nobleman. The Resistance’s presence in Ludria is low, but we do have some spies masquerading as servants for the nobles. We find that keeping spies at this location allows a steady flow of valuable information on The Sultan’s current plans. The town was once home to our land’s most affluent monastery, but after The Sultan invaded our land, he tore it down to make room for his massive resort. When we take the land back from The Sultan, we will return this place of worship to its former glory.

Maridia

The coastal town of Maridia. Beautiful sandy beaches and plenty of shipping infrastructure make this location prime real estate for the transfer of goods. Fortunately, being so far south, this little town has managed to evade most of The Sultan’s tyranny. The town is currently independent of any faction and serves as a major port for the southern part of the nation. While the Resistance would like to establish a base of operations here, we respect the people of Maridia’s wishes to remain independent in the war.

Sacadia

The town of Sacadia shares vassals between The Shimmering Sands and the foreign empire that controls a vast expanse of land to the north. Sacadia was established when The Sultan invaded our country as a form of peace offering to the northern empire. As of current, there are no known Resistance members in Sacadia. Not only is there no interest in meddling with another nation’s vassal town, but the region is too far into The Sultan’s area of control. Placing anyone in this town would be too risky for their well-being. When we become victorious against The Sultan, we expect his army to flee toward this town and set up a line of defense. Plans are currently in the works to decide on a good offensive when that day comes, but for now, our forces are mainly focused on The Sultan’s immediate territories.
