- de las Casas was a Spanish explorer who was greatly into religion
- Franklin was a U.S. President
- Through their literature, the men earned the positons they held, but it was also through their positons that the men's literature became so well known.
- Their literature is where their personality and real beliefs are shown.
- Both men held positions of great honor and were able to share their belief platforms due to their honorable positions.

- Franklin believed a strong central government was best for everyone
- Stood up for their people being treated fairly
- Had their people's best interest in mind
- de las Casas wrote "History of the Indies"

- de Vaca was a Spanish Explorer in The New World
- Williams was a minister and founded Providence, Rhode Island
- Founding new parts of the world was a job neither of these men took lightly which is why they both wrote such important pieces of literature that helped others learn about their beliefs.
Themes
- The mens' strong willed beliefs is what gave them the desire to explore new places and bring new communities to life.
- de Vaca believed that there was a lot more of the world left to discover and that slavery was a large issue.
- Williams believed in religious freedom, faith is an inward change, and seperation of church and state.
- Both men would agree that freedom to make your own choices is a right everyone deserves.

- de Vaca wrote "The Relation of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca"
- Williams wrote "Christenings make not Christians"
