To accomplish daily tasks, English language learners will need to learn and improve all 4 language skills. Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening activities will be a part of most tutoring sessions. Most learners at VITAL are highly motivated to improve their speaking skills.

  • Teaching writing may include lessons on spelling, punctuation, grammar, brainstorming, and editing.
  • Teaching speaking may include lessons on giving personal information, taking a phone message, pronunciation, or making small talk.
  • Teaching listening may include lessons on sounds, stress, intonation patterns, and comprehension practice.
  • Teaching reading may include lessons on letter sounds, prefixes, vocabulary, and context clues.

Speaking

Eventually, they try to repeat what they hear.

Writing

Finally, they reproduce these symbols on paper.
