Some background information:

In the mid 1800's, there were about 4 million slaves in the USA. Many escaped to freedom, travelling on the Underground Railroad It was not a real 'railroad' but was a name for a number of secret ways used by the slaves to escape: Hiding in carts/ walking through forests etc.

Henry hearing the news (beginning with the line "His friend James came into the factory.") Henry's family in the truck (beginning with the line "At lunchtime, Henry rushed to the centre of town.") Henry sitting crying on the stool (beginning with "Henry no longer sang.")
In your pairs - one child is to suggest feelings that Henry would experience at these points in the story, and the second child is to suggest how Henry's body would react to the feelings.
