Introduction

Cenotes are the most beautiful jewels of the Yucatan Peninsula. Sheltered by the jungle, swimming in a cenote is a fun experience in Cancun, the Riviera Maya or Tulum. Cenotes are very deep water wells, which are fed by the filtration of rain and by the currents of the rivers that are born in the heart of the earth.

As far as I remember, we went to four cenotes: one was an "open cenote". In that one there were zip lines from side to side of the cenote. Another was a "semi-open cenote" where we paddled aboard a kayak between the stone walls upholstered by hanging gardens. The third one was an "ancient cenote" where we learned about the mayan ceremonies, and the last one was a "cavern cenote" and it was underground; we had to rappel down to the cenote that was 25 meters deep.

Conclusion

For me, this was one of the best vacations I have ever had, because it was a very fun experience that I lived with my family. The cenotes have beautiful scenery, which I loved and each one of the cenotes although they were very cold, were a lot of fun swimming in.
