What is formula 1?

Formula 1, or F1, is a type of car racing. It features very fast cars that race on different tracks around the world. The goal is to be the fastest and win the most points during the season. Drivers and teams work together to build and race the best cars. F1 is known for its high speed, advanced technology, and exciting competition. Formula 1 is directed by FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile).

Rules and Flags

On this topic I will talk a bit about the rules of Formula 1. These rules make sure the races are fair and safe for everyone.

Flags

In Formula 1, flags are used to communicate important information to the drivers. Each color has a different meaning:

Green Flag
Red Flag
Blue Flag
Yellow Flag
Checkered flag

The track is clear, and normal racing can resume.

The race is stopped, usually due to an accident or dangerous conditions.

A faster car is approaching; move over to let it pass.

Caution, slow down, and no overtaking due to an incident on the track.

The race is finished.

RULES

Formula 1 has important rules for beginners to know. Qualifying decides starting positions based on fastest laps. Races start with either a standing or rolling start.Pit stops include tire changes and adjustments. Overtaking is allowed within track limits. Points are awarded based on race finishes to determine the championship. Penalties are given for rule violations or unsafe driving. Those are the principal rules that a person who don't watch F1 need to know.

F1 Race week

On this topic I will talk a bit about how the F1 Race Weeks are made and their points.

RACE DAY

Drivers adjust their cars and learn the track in three practice sessions held on Friday and Saturday.

Divided into three parts (Q1, Q2, Q3) on Saturday, where drivers set their fastest lap times to determine the starting grid for the race.

Shorter races held on Saturday in some events to set the grid for Sunday's main race, typically lasting around 100 km.

The main race occurs on Sunday, with drivers starting in their qualifying or sprint race positions. They compete for points based on finishing positions.

Points SYstem

In Formula 1, points are awarded to drivers and teams based on their finishing positions in each race. The current points system, as of the 2024 season. This system rewards consistency and performance throughout the season, with higher points awarded for higher finishing positions. Points are crucial for determining the World Drivers' Championship and the World Constructors' Championship at the end of the season. Formula 1 occasionally updates its points system to ensure competitiveness and fairness among teams and drivers.

F1 TEAMS AND DRIVERS

On this topic I will be talking about Formula 1 teams and drivers.

Currently, Formula 1 has ten teams competing, each with two drivers. This makes a total of twenty drivers on the grid for each race weekend. Each team and driver brings their unique strategies, technologies, and skills to the championship, contributing to the excitement and competitiveness of the sport.

DRS (Drag Reduction System) is a feature in Formula 1 that reduces aerodynamic drag to increase speed on straights. It involves an adjustable rear wing that opens under specific conditions, helping drivers overtake by allowing higher speeds.

Slipstream in Formula 1 is when a car follows closely behind another to reduce air resistance, allowing the trailing car to gain speed and potentially overtake.

DRS zones in Formula 1 are specific sections of the track where drivers can activate the Drag Reduction System (DRS) to reduce drag and increase speed, aiding overtaking.
