BUILDING A B.R.I.G.H.T. FUTURE

“Building a B.R.I.G.H.T. Future” is a journey of innovation and collaboration that engaged our eTwinners from Italy, Spain and Turkey in service learning aligned with Sustainable Development Goals. Our pupils selected a neglected area in their community and collaborated in mixed-ability transnational teams to create a plan of action aimed at transforming the chosen location into a green oasis that blends biodiversity, recreational and inclusive facilities, global sustainability, heritage, and thrilling experiences. Do you want to know if and how our eTwinners managed to achieve this goal? Browse through the pages of this storytelling book and you will find out.

TASK: sharing copyrighted and non copyrighted materials

Each partner school works in small national groups and each group shares both copyrighted and non-copyrighted materials in the Digipad. For each item they include information such as:

  • the title of the item.
  • the author or creator of the publication or creation date.
  • the source URL or reference (e.g., book title, website link).
  • whether it's copyrighted or not.

-Six transnational teams for our BRIGHT Future

Students will be divided into 6 teams, corresponding to the letters of the acronym of our project title B.R.I.G.H.T. (Biodiversity, Recreational and Relaxing Activities, Inclusion, Global Sustainability, Cultural Heritage, Thrilling Experience). We will create the transnational teams, considering the students' interests and skills.

We used a Wordwall spinning wheel in order to assign each partner school one of these tasks:

  • cycling paths, running paths, paths leading to the five areas, trees
  • relaxing corner + thrilling corner
  • natural corner (biodiversity) + sports corner
  • cultural heritage corner + services (toilets, bins, cafès, benches, inclusive facilities..

Partners design the map of the area in a collaborative way

Each partner school gives their contribution following this order: PAMPLONA: external line of trees, cycling path, running path, paths leading to these 5 areas: the relaxing corner, the sports corner, the thrilling corner, the natural corner, the cultural heritage corner MADRID: relaxing corner + thrilling corner ITALY: natural corner + sports corner TURKEY: services (toilets, bars, benches, restaurants, shelters, bins...)

COSPACES

CoSpaces Edu an accessible and safe platform for younger students.

Mrs. Andriulo's school (the Italian partner) has a CoSpaces Pro license, allowing us to use 16 seats.

STEP 1: Students from Spain make tutorials about CoSpaces and share them with the other partners

EACH PARTNER SCHOOL CREATES 4 COSPACES ACCOUNTS AND USES THE CODE TO JOIN THE CLASS

ALL THE PARTNERS ARE IN THE CLASS «Building our Bright Future Together»

PARTNERS CREATE ADDITIONAL COSPACES TO LEARN HOW TO USE THE PLATFORM EFFECTIVELY

THEN THEY ARE ALL READY TO GIVE THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO OUR COMMON ASSIGNMENT

ALL PARTICIPANTS FOUND A TEMPLATE WITH AN EMPTY ENVIRONMENT

The first partners who started working were our friends from Pamplona

Pupils from Pamplona started by adding paths

They disliked the environment and they crafted a new one by adding trees and the paths leading to the areas where their partners had to add their elements

CRAFTING OUR B.R.I.G.H.T. AREA – STEP BY STEP

PROJECT PLAN

Effective communication is the key to working together as a team. We we held a meeting with families to inform them about the project, about Data protection, Copyright. and we got the Privacy consent signed by them-During the meeting families took a survey and they were also given a booklet with a webwise parents' guide to a better Internet.Communication was necessary in order to know the progress of the project, to plan future activities, to give information about the roles for a particular task. The starting point was the sharing of the draft of the Project plan with all the partners by a common google doc. Everyone could make suggestions

Throughout the project the original plan was modified in some parts because we took into consideration the feedback of our pupils and teachers:- the results of the pre- survey - the results of the midway survey - their ideas shared during the chats, forums, online events The keywords were MONITORING - FLEXIBILITY- COOPERATION

MANY CHANNELS TO COMMUNICATE

Messenger group was created and used for faster information.

Online meetings were used to discuss the project plan, activities, and distribution of the tasks.

emails were used to sum up what we had said during the videoconferences and to give more detailed information.

T.B was used to remind dates or to ask for information.

Forums and online meetings with pupils were used to get to know each other, to share opinions, to discuss, to make decisions.

ASSESSMENT

Monitoring had an important role because it allowed us to make adjustments in our teaching methods and strategies but also in the planning of future activities. Moreover it gave us the chance to provide feedback to pupils.A component of monitoring was the systematic observation of pupils at work and play, how they interacted with teachers and with peers,, their involvement in the project activities.

  • Are they collaborating with their team?
  • Is each of them contributing to the final product?
  • Are they respecting deadline?
  • Do I listen to my pupils' opinions ?
  • How much are they involved in this type of activity?
  • Are my pupils having difficulties to do this task?
  • Are pupils interacting with their peers?

We also considered the results of:

  1. Pre -survey
  2. Digital awareness Survey
  3. Artificial Intelligence in Everyday life survey
  4. Midway survey

And for the project final evaluation we considered continuity of participation, completion of products, and the final surveys for pupils, teachers.

DISSEMINATION

Dissemination is about making the main results/outputs of a project visible to key actors, especially end users, relevant target audience and decision makers. The dissemination of the project to different target groups is contributing to give a high visibility to the institutions/organizations that carried out the project, to inspire other institutions/organizations and to promote new school cooperations for future projects.

BUILDING A B.R.I.G.H.T. FUTURE

That was a great experience! Thank you eTwinning.
