can/ can´t
Can is a modal verb used to express ability, possibility, permission, or requests. Can’t (cannot) is the negative form of “can” and is used to express inability or impossibility.
Can+infinitive has different meanings.
Ability I can (sing)= I know how to I can't (dance)= I don't know how to Can you dance? = Yes I can/ No, I can't
Possibility I can (come) = It's possible for me. I can't (come) = It's not possible. Can you come? Yes I can/ No, I can't.
Permission You can(park here)= It's Ok/permitted. You can't(park here)= It's not Ok/not permitted Can you park here? Yes I can/ No, I can't.
Request Can you(help me)? = Please do it. Can I opnen the window? = It's it OK if I do it?
- Can/Can't are the same for all persons (I,he,it,they, etc). NOT he cans
- We don't use TO after can
- I can swim NOT I can to swim
