What is abstract art?

abstract art is art that isn't literal but represents external reality with colors, shapes and lines.

when did it happen?

abstract art became famous by 1910 mostly because of ¨komposition V¨ by wasily kandinsky, but, that was not the first one; hilma af klint started painting abstract art by 1905, 5 years before wasily kandinsky made ¨komposition V¨ but she didn't publish it because she didn't think people would like it. The first group of abstract paintings by Af Klint, was titled ¨primordial chaos¨ while wich one of this was first is unknown, there are images of the paintings (the paintings themselves don't have a name).

techniques

there really isn't one single technique for abstract art so there isn't a correct or wrong way to make abstract art, but some popular techniques are:1. Just do it! Literally, just start throwing in random splotches of paint and eventually you will either come up with an idea, or you'll fill up the canvas and, done! You have a painting. 2. Use your hands! No, really! Use your hands to paint! or if you don't like getting your hands full of paint, try to use big brushes.
