It is very common that we post and support social, environmental or political causes and leave the impact there, but we don´t really do much on a daily basis.

• "Someone else will do it" is a thought most of us have. Thinking that we shouldn´t pick up the can that is on the floor, buying plastic bottles, or that we shouldn´t reduce our meat consumption because someone out there is eating meat are the kind of things that keeps us stuck.

Thinking that only the people whose career is about environment are the only ones who can help is wrong. Everyone can help from their area.

• A lot of companies are still not conscious about the climate crisis and are not implementing actions and strategies to help.

Usually, they are more focused on money and revenues more than the environment, but they forget that without the natural resources, they would not be able to do anything.

Stop thinking. Start acting. There´s always an area where you can help with what you know. Either you are an engineer, a lawyer, a designer, or even a housewife, you can always make an impact.

Investigate how can you help, talk with your coworkers, and motivate each other.

Inside the fashion industry, we can find the fast fashion that has become a trend nowadays. They try to show that they are an ecofriendly company when in reality, their overproduction affects the climate crisis.

What can I do?

Coca Cola

• Coca Cola is the biggest soda production company. They claim to recicle 6 oit of 10 bottles of plastic, implement strategies for water preservation, etc...but did you know that they take water out of wells illegally? Did you know that for 1 litter of coke they need 34.5 litters of water fot it?

Being informed about your consumption options is key to help climate crisis

Whether you are looking for clothes or what you are going to eat, knowing all ypur options and what´s best in environmental terms can make a big difference. Being a responsible consumer can help reduces our carbon footprint, combat climate change, resource depletion, and the production of premature waste.

Types of greenwashing

Red herring: Capitalization of products that have one environmental fact but not fuosing on a non-environmental fact. Bait and switch: When a company does actions for the environment but it pollutes or has environmental malpractices. Rallying behind a lower standard: The creation of their own certification that meets their own standards. Reluctant enthusiast: Having green products but hiding malpractices. Outright lying: Lying about environmental claims. Lack of definition: products claiming elements that are benefitial; "Plant-based", "organic", "natural" Green by association:: The use of natural elements to show "beneficial" actions.

What can I do?

Read. Read the news. Investigate what´s happening in external sources that are not from the government. Use reliable soirces. Demand to your government good environmental practices, it is your right. Speak up. Your voice can make a difference.

As mentioned bedore, Coca Cola greenwashes with the sustainable claims. Coca Cola is being classified as the company with the biggest plastic fingerprint of the world.

Zara´s greenwashing:Bait and switch

The term fast fashion was first created to describe Zara´s mission to get a garment from design to store in only 15 days. There´s not such thing as sustainable fast fashion. Fashion compromises 10% of total global carbon emissions

Identifying fast fashion companies

They are always following the trends and have a lot of designs. They have new products very frequentl THe quality of the materials isn´t great. THe quality of the manufacturing is compromised. The place of manufacturing. (Made in China, Made in Vietnam. Made in India, Made in Bangladesh) Low prices

Responsible consumer

The best option would be to stop consuming from this companies, but for some of us, that might be difficuklt. Reducing your consumption is a great way to help. When consuming, opt for glass containers. Also. this will bring benefits for your health!

What can I do?

If you have the opportunity to eat something plant based, to pick up a can from the floor and put it in the trash can, to walk instead of driving, do it. Small actions make a big difference. Imagine everyone is making their small action everyday. We would change the world!
