Introduction

Winx Club is an animated series co-produced by Rainbow SpA and later Nickelodeon. Created and directed by Italian animator Iginio Straffi, the show premiered on 28 January 2004. It quickly became a ratings success in Italy and on Nickelodeon networks internationally. The series is set in a magical universe inhabited by fairies, witches, and other mythical creatures. The main character, Bloom, is a fairy warrior who enrolls at Alfea College to train and hone her skills. With an ongoing storyline, the show initially outlined a three-season plot but continued for a fourth season in 2009. Nickelodeon’s involvement led to a revival series, and the continued partnership between Rainbow and Nickelodeon resulted in more co-productions.
