Canada is a big country in North America. It's surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Artic Ocean. There are many people living there, about 37 million.

Canada is a democracy witha government. The official languages are English and French. Many peoplealso speak other languages.

Government and languages

Canada has some special words thatare different from English. For example, "two-four" means a box of 24 beer bottles. Another example is "chinook", a type of warm winter wind.


Canada has arich history. A long time ago, the French and British fought to controlthe country. Later, Canadians created their own government. During World War 1 and World War 2, Canada helped defend freedom.
