Cosa sono?

Le microplastiche sono piccole particelle di plastica con dimensioni inferiori a 5 mm. Si formano principalmente attraverso la frammentazione di oggetti di plastica. Lo scienziato che ha scoperto le microplastiche nel 2003 è Richard Thompson. Nel 2017 i ricercatori hanno scoperto microplastiche inferiori al micron. Le posssiamo trovare negli pneumatici, cosmetici, vestiti e dentifrici.

Settimanalmente ingeriamo circa 5g di plastica, dato che alla fine arriva anche sulle nostre tavole.
