AIRE Pilot: Four-Year IM-Neph

Year One

  • Nephrology clinic during ambulatory block
  • Inpatient consults - 2 weeks

Year Two

  • Clinic during ambulatory block
  • Inpatient consults - 4 weeks

Year Three

  • Continuity IM and Nephrology clinic - 12 months
    • IM block schedule; Nephrology 1/2 day per week*
  • Inpatient consult - 4 weeks
  • Following month 30, transition to traditional fellow role
    • Nephrology ICU /Floor /Transplant
    • 1/2 day Nephrology continuity clinic
    • Two months IM Ambulatory block; 1/2 days not assigned to IM continuity will be assigned to inpatient consult service (ESRD / VA / Transplant)
    • Monthly Dialysis outpatient experience

Year Four

  • Traditional Nephrology Fellowship
  • ABIM IM eligible after year 3 and Nephrology after year 4
  • Off Ramps
    • IM 3 years
    • IM 3 years + Match into Nephrology or Other
