Climate Change

Earth's climate has changed radically many times since the planet's formation 4.5 billion years ago. It has oscillated between warm periods and glacial periods; These cycles have always lasted tens of thousands or millions of years. In the last 150 years (industrial age), temperatures have risen faster than ever before.

Caused by global warming, climate change refers to variations in long-term weather patterns on Earth, such as temperature, sea levels, and precipitation.

Climate change

The impact on the Earth's climate and temperatures of burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests and raising livestock is increasing. The huge amounts of greenhouse gases from these activities are in addition to the amounts naturally present in the atmosphere, reinforcing the greenhouse effect and warming the planet.

Causes of climate change

Climate change affects all regions of the world. The polar ice caps are melting and sea levels are rising. In some regions, extreme weather events are increasingly common, leading to large drops in precipitation, while others are experiencing worsening heatwaves and droughts. Action must be taken quickly to combat climate change or these effects will only intensify. Climate change is a major threat to climate change.
