Because he was lonely, and she was beautiful, he immdeatly fell in love with her, and tricked her into eating pomegranete, the fruit of the underworld. It had made Persephone bound the underworld. At first, Persephone did not like it, but with Hades' kind treatment, she'd learn to like him.
Hades is one of the elder olympians. His mother was Rhea, and father was Cronus.
Apollo is one of the younger olympians. His mother was Leto, a titan, and father Zeus.
After Zeus saved his siblings, him, Hades, and Posiedon had a draw that decided who got what part of the Earth. Zeus got the sky, Posiedon got the sea, and Hades got the Earth.
