What is"Holes" about?

"Holes" tells us the story of Stanley Yelnats, a boy who got acused of a crime he did not commit. Due to this misunderstanding, he was taken to the court. There, he was declared guilty, and they took him to Camp Green Lake, where he met Zero, (a tiny guy who would later become his friend) and some other kids. Along Zero, Stanley would find out the secrets of the camp, and the reader would also discover the connection between Stanley's family and Zero's, too.
Apart from them, many other characters are involved in the story. Here are the ones we chose:

Mr. Pendanski

Mr. Pendanski is described at first as a medium sized, skinny, comprehensive and calm man. As the story unfolds, we can notice a big change on his personality. For example, he said to Zero that "he only knows how to dig holes" and that "he's stupid" We know that Mr. Pendanski is (or at least is what we thought at the beginning) that was the least strict supervisor at the camp because the kids on tent D called him "Mom"

Elya Yelnats

Elya is the great-great grandfather of Stanley. In the movie, he appears as a slightly tall, wide body man. Elya was the one who, in a way, summoned the "curse". This was because he did not carry Madame Zeroni (Zero's great-great grandmother) up a mountain. The treasure Stanley and Zero (and The Warden, too) were searching at the end of the book was also Elya's holding.

Importance of history in the book

Almost every character is connected, a few examples are: ·Stanley and Zero: Zero was the one who stole Clyde shoes. He dropped them, hence the shoes fell in Stanley's had ·Elya: Summoned the curse, the treasure belonged to him. ·Kissin' Kate Barlow: Her lipstick was buried in the camp
