Strengths
Weaknesses
• I advocate for students who may lack means at home and help them find community resources • If I recognize biased behavior or language I will intervene
• I will intervene on a small scale but am apprehensive to initiate a school wide program • I don’t intervene often as I struggle to notice biased behavior in student interactions
• I can easily recognize where the curriculum and materials are biased or inequal • I feel comfortable supplementing material with more inclusive information
• I mostly notice bias relating to race, and religion. I am much less aware of sexism, classism, ableism and other -isms • I struggle to notice biased behavior in student interactions
How to Improve
How to Improve
I would like to gain confidence in myself, my knowledge, and my ability to lead others. I would like to develop stronger relationships with students so I can better recognize exclusive behavior. Good relationships would also be helpful when I do need to intervene in a student interaction.
I would like to expand my knowledge of -isms by expanding my definition and ability to recognize them. I would also like to be more in tune with student conversations, language, and mannerisms so I can better identify bias or exclusive behavior.
Ability to create and sustain a bias free and equitable learning environment
Ability to redress biases and inequities in the long term

Strengths

Weaknesses
Strengths
• I feel that as a white, middle class person, I lack the credibility to initiate programs • I am easily discouraged by negative attitudes and people’s unwillingness to see other points of view
• I do little outside my classroom to encourage others to create unbiased classrooms • I worry I might make too big of waves by implementing big changes or directly addressing the current political climate
• I feel like my personal classroom is more equitable as I make an effort to supplement course material and create an environment that is equitable • I strongly believe that all students are capable and hold them to high standards
• I am supportive of plans and programs already in place • I feel strongly about the importance of making education equitable and accessible
How to Improve
How to Improve
I would like to learn strategies for sharing information that encourages other to take action. I want to remember the statement from Gorski & Pothini (2018), that not making a statement is actually making statement and I need to make my views and intentions clear.
I would like to be more confident in my knowledge and let that speak for me rather than my age, race, class, gender, etc. I also need to adjust my attitude and not worry about people who are not ready change. All I can do is present information, what they do with it is out of my hands.
