WEATHER
Canada is the second largest country in the world, so it has varied climates. Northern Canada is extremely cold, with summers lasting less than two months. But almost all Canadians live near the country's southern border, where the climate is warmer. For the same day there can be big differences in the weather in different parts of the country.

GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES
Canada is vast and diverse. Occupying most of the northern portion of the North American continent, Canada is the second largest country in the world in total area, surpassed only by Russia. It is a continent of America. Canada comprises an immense territory between the Pacific Ocean, to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean, to the east. The Arctic Ocean is to the north; Greenland is to the northeast. Beyond the southern coast of Newfoundland lies Saint Pierre and Miquelon.

LANDMARKS
July 1, 1867, is a date that marks the independence of Canada from Great Britain. With the adoption of the British North America Act, the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec and Ontario were united, creating the second largest country in the world.
The climate of the Vancouver area, on the west coast of Canada, is rainy and temperate. Near Toronto the climate is continental: winters are cold and snowy, while summers are hot and humid.
