Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin' for today
Ah
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin' life in peace
You
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
the ispiration for the song
The inspiration of the imagine text is not very clear, there are mainly 2 versions one is that the inspiration comes from a book by Yoko Ono "Grapefruit" published in 1964. And one from a Christian prayer book given to him by a Jhon friend in 1970.
WHAT IS THE SONG ABOUT?
Imagine is John Lennon's best known song in his solo career, the song over the years has become a real anthem of hope for peace. In the song he imagines a better world, where there are no more wars but are people living together. In 1980 before his death Lennon will say “first you have to think about flying, then you fly. Conceiving the idea is the first move.”
Why is it a ballad?
The text is used as a ballad, but in reality all it has of a ballad is the simple text and the stanzas written in four lines.
But the narrator does not give his opinion of the story, rather the song is the narrator's opinion, in this case the characters are not there at all,
