We can use gusta or gustan with nouns and pronouns: Before a noun we need always an article unless it is a proper noun: We can also use "gusta" before a verb. The verb will be in infinitive

  • We usually start learning the 3rd person because is the most common use.
  • We use it to talk about what we like and don’t like. For example hobbies, food, colours, animals, etc.
  • Me gusta el libro
  • Me gustan estos
  • Me gustan las mariposas
  • Me gusta Madrid
  • Me gusta bailar
  • Me gusta cocinar y cantar

  • As we have seen the subject in “me gusta” is what we like. That‘s the reason why the verb change depending in what or who is liked.
  • “Me“ means “to me“ and it refers to the indirect object, in other words, the person “who likes“.
  • In the next page we will see the different pronouns to refer to the indirect object.
