Geography

Sri Lanka is a country in the Indian Ocean. The administrative capital is Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte, located 7 km to Colombo, the economic capital.

Monument 1: the Temple of Buddha's Tooth

This is a Buddhist temple located in Kandy. It houses the country's most important relic, the tooth of Buddha, which is considered an object of great veneration and respect. and was built in 1595.

Monument 2: The Golden Buddha of Dambulla

The Golden Temple in the town of Dambulla is dominated by an immense Buddha 30 metres high, entirely covered in gold leaf. It is the largest Buddha statue in the world. This construcion dates back almost 2,300 years, dating back to the 3rd century before BC.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress

It is a major archaeological site, the former royal capital of Sri Lanka, and a major tourist site, abandoned then restored in the 20th century. It contains large gardens, walled moats, pools and fountains.
