OUR PURPOSE AND PRINCIPLES
As embedded within Veolia's Environmental Performance Purpose Wheel, our convictions serve as guiding principles driving our journey towards sustainability. With digital technologies accounting for a significant portion of global emissions, our purpose is clear: to pioneer responsible practices that mitigate environmental impact and inspire a greener future. OUR CARBON ASSESSMENT
IT equipment purchased in 2023 and from previous years (amortization) constituted the single largest source of emissions for DB&T NA. This is due to the fact that DB&T is in charge of IT procurement for all of Veolia North America’s business units: several thousands of electronic devices are purchased every year. Additionally, our footprint from commuting and business travel come in 2nd and 3rd respectively with a combined 449 CO2t.

Technology Task Force
The Technology Task Force ensures the integration of eco-design into enterprise architecture principles across VNA DB&T. They develop an understanding of electronic device usage and systems within DB&T, analyzing current software and systems to improve efficiency and usage. Additionally, they build mechanisms to evaluate and grow the impact of Green IT practices related to equipment managed by DB&T, including laptops, monitors, network equipment, and other hardware.
RAISE AWARENESS
The Raising Awareness Task Force educates and aligns the DB&T team by providing best-in-class knowledge on Green IT practices. They partner with other task forces to disseminate their findings and created a credentialed e learning course to enhance understanding of IT sustainability. (Available at the link to the left) Additionally, the task force collaborates on communication strategies to convey the community's goals, progress, and intentions through regular meetings, newsletters, and webinars.
CALCULATION TASK FORCE
This task force aligns the baseline assessment of DB&T VNA to understand the scope and origin of CO2 emissions. Upon completing this exercise, providing the broader Green IT community for analysis and opportunity evaluation. The task force also works to formalize Green IT procurement policies, build cross-functional partnerships to embed these principles into DB&T, explore new use cases, and building the IT for Green network.
