Zoom Tools

Directions: Click on the toolbar icons to learn their function.

Shield

• Click the Shield to see your meeting info
• Once open, click the Gear to view your settings

End

• Click End to end the meeting.
• If you're in another Zoom room, this option will say Leave to log out of the meeting.

View

• Click View to change your view settings
• Speaker (spotlight who's speaking)
• Gallery (thumbnail of participants)
• Multi-speaker (highlights recent speakers)
• Immersive (places up to 25 participants on a virtual background)
• Fullscreen
• Hide self-view
• Hide non-video participants
• Set a theme or wallpaper

Polls/Quizzes

• Click Polls/Quizzes to create or launch a previously created poll or quiz.
• Click + to create a poll or quiz.
• Click Launch to launch a previously created poll or quiz.

Chat

• Click the chat icon to open the chat panel on the right-hand side of the screen.
• Once the chat is open, click the 3 dots to change the chat settings (no one, hosts and co-hosts, or everyone).
• Once the chat is open, click the arrow to pop the chat out or merge it back to the window.

More

• Click More to access:
• Captions
• Closed captioning
• Record
• To the cloud (not locally)
• Breakout rooms
• Foster collaboration between learners
• Focus mode
• You can see learners' cameras, but they can only see your camera (not their peers')

Host Tools

• Click Host Tools to control what participants can and cannot do
• Under Host Tools, click Suspend Participant Activities if you need to lock down the room so participants cannot use their camera, mic, the chat, etc.

React

• Click React to raise or lower your hand, share a reaction, or send an effect (camera must be on).

Share

• Click Share to share your screen.
• Select entire screen or which window you'd like to share
• Be sure to check share sound to share your sound with participants

Apps

• Click on Apps to open Zoom apps.
• The Timer app is currently the only school-approved app
• Click Add Apps to download the Timer
• Click on the caret (^) to control who may start the app

Audio

• Click the audio icon to mute or unmute your mic.
• Click the caret (^) to view your audio settings or select a microphone or speaker.

Video

• Click the video icon to your camera on or off.
• Click the caret (^) to view video settings or select a virtual background, avatar, etc.

Participants

• Click Participants to open the side panel to see who is in the waiting room and/or meeting.
• Click the caret (^) to copy the link to the meeting to invite other participants to join.
